With the first event of the 2011 ATRA National Championship Series in the books we have updated the points standings. Some great racing over the two day Matrix Cup at the Superdrome in Frisco, TX sees Florida native Alexander Gil leading the Men's Overall championship as well as the Sprint competition. Gil is also holding down third place in the Endurance standings. Strong performances by Andrew Armstrong in both the Sprint and Endurance races has him in second in both of those championships as well as holding second in the overall standings. On the Endurance side it was Brendan Sharpe doing the most damage to take the early lead ahead of Armstrong.
On the women's side, strong performances by Lauren Robertson to take the lead in the Endurance competition and second on the Sprint side has her in the lead by 4 points over women's Sprint leader Suzie Goodwin. Goodwin is also holding second in the Endurance standings. Erin Popovich rounds out the top 3 for the women.
The strong performances of Lauren Robertson has her leading the Bicycles Plus team in a tie with the Matrix / RBM team in the Team overall standings, with each team scoring 45 points over the weekends racing. Frisco Cycling Club is currently holding onto 3rd place.
We are looking forward to the next event on the NCS calendar, when the series moves to the National Sports Center Velodrome in Blaine, MN for the Fixed Gear Classic on the 10th through the 12th of June.
